Social Distancing Week #1—CHECK.

It has only been four days of trying to commit to blogging everyday and I have already failed.

Well, it looks like this may be going on for a while so at least I have time to improve?

It’s crazy to think that a week ago, life was still mostly “normal”. Things change quick! How interesting to be a live in a time like this. I wonder what will be said of this pandemic in the future. I wonder what will be taught to children down the road, and I wonder how this will all end and when we will be able to have somewhat normal lives again.

I am going to preface this post with just how thankful I am for all of the healthcare workers, government workers and everyone else that is still working like normal. I plan on writing a post someday about my love and gratefulness for all of these people. I pray that by staying home, it can make your jobs a little bit easier. You are all heroes. Seriously. Thank you. While I am at home making scones, you are working harder than ever to protect our city. More to come on this topic at a later date.

Anyways, yes this week I made scones. It was by far the hardest, most complex recipe I have ever attempted. I don’t think I have ever googled so many things pertaining to one recipe.

-How do you use a zester?

-Is wax paper the same as parchment paper? (Hint: It’s not).

-What is a pastry cutter?

-What is a double boiler?

Ya’ll, this is just a few. I watched many, many youtube videos before this recipe was completed.

BUT… It was so worth it. I’ve been bragging about my scones since I made them, they were that good. I even made some lemon curd (also had to google what that was) to put on top and it was fabulous. I could eat those scones forever, but they’re all gone now so we will see when I find enough motivation to make them again.

Photographic proof I shouldn’t become a food blogger anytime soon.

We also thoroughly enjoyed some seventy degree weather on Thursday afternoon. It had been raining for so long, and finally the sun popped out and it was glorious! Hez played with rocks, and I sat in the sun. That night there was also an incredible sunset. Nathan and I maybe climbed on the roof of the garage  to get a better view and it did not disappoint. (Yes, I am pregnant. No, I do not plan on climbing on to garage roofs anymore. Also, Hez was asleep and not on the roof with us).

But guys, look at these pictures! How incredible.

I made Nathan sneak in a bump picture since I literally have one decent bump picture with Hez and it was the day I went in to be induced. So far we are way ahead of schedule with this little girl. #proud

We’ve enjoyed having some downtime, and Nathan has been having a lot of fun with our camera. It’s fun to see what pictures he takes and I’m thankful for these memories we will have from this season of life.

This is the horse that lives on our property! Sometimes I feed him an apple, sometimes I also get scared and just throw the apple over the fence.

And alas, here are some pictures of Hez—because he’s the cutest of all the things that live on this property.

This is definitely a signature Hez look—staring at you blankly with a little tuft of bed head on the side.

This is what happens when Nathan dresses Hez…at least he’s a cute little narwhal.
