Three Months!

Our little man is three months old! It seems insane that he has not been on this earth longer, maybe it is because we have scrunched so much into his short little life.

Hezekiah is such a joy! He continues to be an easy-going little babe. We had a meeting the other evening and he literally slept through 75% of it. One of the funniest things about having him here is that he gets so many stares wherever he goes. People on the elevator will stare and smile and try to get him to laugh. Waitresses at a restaurant will literally gather and watch him—even when he’s just sleeping in his stroller! He is seriously more popular than I ever have been/will be.

Most mothers here will stay inside with their baby for at least one year, so it makes sense that Hez is a little bit of a spectacle. Add in the fact that he’s white and has bright blue eyes, he definitely does not blend in. There are many fun traditions that new mama’s stick to here that I think are pretty interesting, maybe one day I’ll write a little bit about them. One of them includes not washing your hair for the first month after giving birth, I was pretty close to doing that unintentionally.

Anyways, Hez loves being sung to (even though Nathan and I are both horrible singers), He loves stroller rides and being carried in the Ergo. He is not the biggest fan of naptime, or cold baths. We thought he would want to cool down after a long day outside, but he hated it. He avoided eye contact with us for several days after—not even kidding. However, he didn’t mind the swimming pool. He didn’t like it, but he also didn’t seem to hate it. He was just very stoic the whole time—like he didn’t change his facial expressions once.

His receding hairline is improving a little bit, He has little whispies now, how exciting! He gains a new thigh roll every week it and we have discovered the importance of cleaning out his double chin/neck roll with every diaper change. It gets really smelly in there. I gave up on cloth diapering about two days after starting, but I’ve decided to try again. I told myself if I can do it for a week straight, I’ll reward myself with buying a new one (good motivation). I wish I had done a little more research before I impulsively bought the lot of cloth diapers we have. I probably would have gone with different ones, but oh well! They seem to be working okay, except one afternoon he was bouncing in his little bouncy thing, and all of a sudden Nathan noticed a pile of poo on the floor. It wasn’t even in the seat of bouncy thing. It was like he shot his poo out sideways. He also kept bouncing and didn’t even make a noise, so it was all smooshed between his toes. Fun, right?

We love this little man so much. It is crazy how quickly he has changed! We look forward to more adventures, more cuddles and seeing who he grows up to be.

Nathan likes the T-shirts on Hez because he thinks they are more comfortable—”he can let his gut air out”.
